Anti-hail netting

In mainland France, protective plastic nets currently cover more than 17 000 hectares of orchards. Their use is steadily growing. They have a lifespan of approximately 10 years. As burning and landfilling are prohibited, each fruit producer remains responsible for the disposal of his waste.
Composed of high-density polyethylene, used nets can be recycled if they are correctly prepared and sorted (no mixing with other waste, low soilage rate). The recycled plastics can then be used to make building components and street furniture.
The national collection organization is a voluntary initiative of the entire profession, which consolidates the environmental commitments of fruit producers.
It brings together the National Federation of Fruit Producers (“FNPF”), the National Association of Appels and Pears (“ANPP”), La Coopération Agricole, the French Committee for Plastics in Agriculture (“CPA”) and A.D.I.VALOR, with the support of the Permanent Assembly of the Chambers of Agriculture (“APCA”).

This initiative falls more broadly within the framework of the "Agriculture Plastics and Environment" (APE) initiative set up by manufacturers for the responsible and sustainable use of plastics in agriculture.
